A stylish and comfortable home

Located in a popular residential area this property is a recent project undertaken by interior designer and lighting specialist Olivia Ann Calleja. As an already existing build the remodelling process was not without its problems as creating an open plan presented considerable structural challenges – but the end result is a stylish, contemporary home.

The large apertures allow for plenty of natural light whilst the curved shape of the living space is both an unusual and attractive feature.

As a 6th floor penthouse covering some 170sqm it also includes an attractive terrace with a cooking area for al fresco dining and sun loungers and a hot tub for relaxing.

Both the interior and exterior of this property has Gres tile flooring with the outdoor having an non slip wood effect finish and the inside, a neutral colour, providing a gentle palate for the interior furnishings.

The kitchen is made from a combination of veneered oak with gloss finished taupe units. The quartz work surface is both practical and functional offering ample space for food preparation with a ceramic hob and central bar area that also can be used for informal dining.

The textured velvet upholstery of the bar stools is a repeated theme – also used in the composition of the dining suite chairs and over head lamp shade above the dining table along with the fabric look wall paint that continues into the sitting area.

Here the two accent colours of blue and mustard/yellow together with a combination of textures and finishes bring a certain vitality to the surroundings. This is also notable in the case of the oil painting on the adjacent wall. The sofa is upholstered in a neutral microfibre whilst circular glass topped side tables in metal along with selected ornaments combine together to create a cohesive look that is pleasing to the eye. Strategically placed house plants also bring a natural touch to the surroundings together with the stone travertine finish on the wall behind the television.

Despite being essentially open plan each area has a its own identity with open shelving creating a sense of separation from the nearby kitchen area.

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms – one being ensuite. Both have marble tiles with the main bathroom having a simple grey and white combination with a wood sink cabinet.

The ensuite bathroom has a glass sliding door and has a more neutral spa like colour scheme of beige and wood set against white ceramics.

In conclusion, this home has been cleverly realised to not only make the optimum use of the space but also cleverly utilises its curved shape to create a living area that is both comfortable, practical and attractive whilst allowing for a full appreciation of the views.
