An elegant modern family home that is at once restful and spacious

As home to a young family, this three bedroomed apartment has been tastefully decorated with an open plan layout that allows for spacious and comfortable living. With a uniform theme throughout, it is a home that emanates tranquillity, further reinforced by the use of a subtle colour scheme.

A laminate flooring of dark walnut contrasts against lighter coloured ceilings that themselves provide an interesting aesthetic and act as features in certain areas. These are enhanced by an intelligent lighting system that enables countless combinations to be chosen which also change the ambience of the room. Corner uplighting installed into the floor is a particularly effective and attractive feature.

A sizeable hall gives access to all areas of this home. Notable features here are the colourful rug and a cotton upholstered chaise lounge sofa that was custom made. Selected artworks also add colour, whilst the gilded traditional Maltese wall clock is particularly valued as it was made by a family member.

In the sitting room the use of dark brown and aubergine create a restful combination. The linen sofas are from Loft and are offset by a number of scatter cushions and throws that add depth and texture. The coffee table and matching cabinet below the television are bespoke and made from tulip wood sprayed in Wengue finish. The small teak side tables that stand at either end of the sofa were purchased from Form. A silver rug lies on the floor whilst patterned silk linen curtains of grey and aubergine compile the look and are again from Loft.

The dining area stands adjacent but achieves a sense of separateness by means of a dramatic curved ceiling, complete with inset lighting that is certainly eye catching. The eight place dining suite comes from Idea Casa and is a combination of walnut with a matching glass topped sideboard. The chairs are upholstered in simple neutral linen creating an understated style. A large lamp stands to one side and on the other ornamental canisters (from Loft) are strategically placed to enhance this modern, minimalist look.

The muted colour scheme continues to the kitchen which consists of white wood cupboards below a coffee quartz coloured work surface and splash back. All appliances are stainless steel with a hob integrated into the breakfast bar area, complete with a striking oval shaped light and extractor from Elice that is available from Flamingo. The coordinating window blind is from Loft.

The first featured bedroom is a child’s bedroom and one where the peaceful aspect continues. Here pearl grey and white walls are a move away from the bright colours so often used in conventional children’s’ rooms. However, colour has been introduced by means of a hot air balloon theme that is reflected in the mobile that hangs over the cot and in the blinds that were bought online. The furniture in this room is bespoke and simple white in colour, but there are some original features such as the rope drawer handles that are a fun touch and were also purchased online.

An Indian teak bed is an unmistakeable focal point in the master bedroom and was purchased from Form together with a matching Indian teak sideboard along with the curtains and blinds. The varied scatter cushions in this room add textural interest as do an eclectic mix of artworks. Two large black based lamps with linen shades stand at either side of the bed on matching Indian teak bedside tables. A walk-in wardrobe facility is located through an adjacent doorway that is also access to the ensuite bathroom. Simple white ceramics, neutrals and brown shades define this room with a mosaic design that extends around its entirety from the shower. An unusual recessed rectangular ceiling design is an unexpected feature.

This elegant apartment has a pleasant, outdoor, terraced area that has decked flooring and a wooden dining suite, both purchased from Bo Concept. The terrace is glass fronted to take full advantage of the country views and is edged with travertine. A grey canvas three piece suite from Cane Line is to be found at one end with a collection of plants, candles and soft furnishings creating a relaxed ambience making it a most appealing location in which to spend time with family and friends.

In conclusion, the careful combination of colour, together with an overall cohesive style, makes this apartment an elegantly modern family home that is at once restful and spacious.
